The Senior Engineer in Intelligent Grid New Technology is responsible for researching, identifying, investigating and delivering new technologies to enable electricity distribution networks Energex and Ergon Energy to improve network operations and transition Queensland to a renewable energy future. The team’s focus is on distributed energy resources, energy management, renewable energy, demand management, power management and network modelling. The work contributes towards ensuring the safe, reliable, secure and affordable operation of the Queensland electrical network.

The Senior Future Technologies Engineer leads field trials of emerging low voltage regulation and battery technologies. This role also represents the business on collaborative research projects with Universities, research organisations and industry bodies. Senior Engineers work as the technical lead engaged in collaborative initiatives with prominent University researchers and industry partners. The work applies innovative network analyses to support the integration of rooftop solar, batteries and electric vehicles.
