UNIQ You and Powerlink Queensland partner to empower the next generation of women in energy

UNIQ You is proud to announce a new partnership with Powerlink Queensland.

As the backbone of Queensland’s energy system, Powerlink is responsible for owning, operating and maintaining Queensland’s high-voltage electricity transmission network. Powerlink delivers electricity safely and reliably to more than five million Queenslanders and now they’re helping power the next generation of women in the electricity sector.

A shared commitment to equity and opportunity

Powerlink Queensland’s formal Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategy focuses on gender equity, inclusion, flexible work, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participation, and building a diverse future workforce. This commitment makes them a natural partner for UNIQ You.

Together, UNIQ You and Powerlink will provide high school girls with direct access to inspiring female role models working across the Electricity, Gas and Oil industry. Through meaningful career conversations, students will gain insight into real-world roles, career pathways and the wide range of opportunities available within the energy sector.

Val Ridley, CEO of UNIQ You, said the partnership reflects a shared belief in the power of representation.

“Partnerships like this are critical to showing girls what’s possible,” Val said. “By connecting students with women leading in the energy sector, we’re helping them see themselves in careers they may never have considered.”

What the partnership will deliver

As part of the partnership, UNIQ You will onboard five female employees from Powerlink Queensland as UNIQ You Advisors. These Advisors will host career conversations with high school students, sharing their personal journeys, experiences and insights into working in the electricity industry.

The partnership will focus on reaching girls across Queensland, building awareness of career opportunities in the sector and empowering students with the knowledge and confidence to explore future pathways in energy and infrastructure.

By combining Powerlink’s industry expertise with UNIQ You’s proven engagement model, this partnership will help shape a more inclusive and diverse future workforce for Queensland.
