About me

  • Regional Background

I currently work as a front-end software engineer at Skedulo, a Brisbane based startup. I started high school at St Aidans School, and moved on to study at the University of Queensland.

I was not sure at first what I wanted to do at University, so I picked Information technology because I liked my IT class at high school, and quickly fell in love with coding and the idea of becoming a developer. Realising I had got really lucky with finding something I love, I continued forward and completed my degree before finding my first job in Brisbane. I now live and work in Brisbane with my husband, our baby daughter, 4 cats, a couple of chickens, and various other foster animals.

About my role

  • Imaginative

  • Reliable
  • Understanding

The role of a front-end engineer is probably what most people think of as a “web developer”. This role is responsible for implementing visual elements that users see and interact with in a web application.

Software Engineers work closely with UX designers, back-end engineers, PM and QAs. All of these roles need to work together closely so that we can create a cohesive product that is easily used by out customers.

The work day of a Software Engineer usually goes: a meeting in the morning to catch up with the team about what we are all going to do for the day, and then picking up a ticket - first working out what the problem is we need to solve, and then implementing the code.
