About me

When I left high school my plan was to go into acting, but my Mum wasn’t psyched at that idea and encouraged me to get a job that would pay money. So I did a dual degree in Creative Industries (Communication Design) and Information Technology, as I was pretty good with a computer and figured I might get into game design. Fast forward to the end of uni when I got a paid study placement in Queensland Government for the Environmental Protection Agency and travelled to almost every Queensland National Park to train rangers in how to use their computers. Since then, I’ve dabbled in just about every digital profession: operations, program and project delivery, and policy and strategy.

About my role

  • Creative
  • Curious
  • Optimistic
  • Passionate
  • Studious

A Director of policy and strategy helps figure out the best ways to solve problems and plan for the future. With the support of my team, I give advice to the big bosses on the big decisions and make sure that the government's plans are smart and helpful for the community. I have to make sense of complicated things, I chat with lots of different people every day to build my knowledge, and then I work with my team to come up with new ideas based on facts. Me and my team juggle different projects, making sure everything is on track, and checking that the plans are really making a difference. I still pinch myself that I get paid to think about how digital can improve the lives of Queenslanders into the future.
