About me
- Regional Background
I’m Darcy, a Senior Development Manager with a civil engineering and construction background, passionate about building communities and breaking stereotypes in the construction and property industries. I started my career as a civil engineer, delivering infrastructure and subdivision projects onsite before transitioning into property development. Now, I lead projects from concept to construction, working with councils, contractors, and consultants to create thriving communities.
I love problem-solving, decision-making, and working with a range of people to get projects off the ground. I’m a big advocate for women in engineering, construction and property, and keen to see more diversity in the industry!
At school, I had no idea I wanted to be an Engineer, study Civil Engineering at Uni, enter the Construction Industry or Property Development Industry. It wasn’t until I followed my love for maths in school which has led me to where I am today – it’s the best thing I’ve ever done.
I am very passionate about breaking down barriers and empowering more women into the industry. Empowered women, empower women!
About my role
- Focused
- Innovative
- Logical
- Reliable
- Thorough
As a Senior Development Manager at Urbex, I turn ideas for new residential communities into reality. My job involves planning and overseeing projects from start to finish—working with engineers, contractors, architects, builders, and councils to design and deliver neighborhoods where people will live. I solve problems, make key decisions, and ensure projects stay on track.
- Keeping track of all the financial aspects of a project and making sure that everything stays on track.
- Evaluating the viability of new potential development projects to determine if they are worth pursuing.
- Navigating the complicated world of regulation and permits by helping to obtain all necessary approvals to allow land to be developed.
- Collaborating with the Project Directors and Sales and Marketing teams to determine product mixes, delivery schedules, theming, and pricing. I am the go-to-person for all things related to the development process, providing valuable input and making sure that everything is aligned.
- Coordinating with external consultants to ensure that the project receives the highest quality development consulting expertise. I have the opportunity to work with a variety of professionals in the field, learning from their expertise and ensuring the best outcome for the project.
- Managing relationships with internal suppliers and external stakeholders. I am the bridge between different parties involved in the project, making sure that everyone is on the same page and working towards a common goal.
- Engaging with government representatives for development applications, approvals, and infrastructure. I have the chance to interact with key decision-makers and help shape the future of our community.
- Preparing reports to keep all stakeholders informed about the project's progress and potential risks. I provide updates and insights to ensure that everyone is well-informed.
It’s a role that combines problem-solving, leadership, and teamwork. If you enjoy working with people, thinking ahead, and making a real impact on how communities are built, development management could be a great career for you!
