About me
- International Experience
In high school, I was a full-time science geek, head in my books and obsessed with glaciers. I wanted to be a glaciologist, but the only university offering it was too far, so I chose geology. I fell in love with rocks and the science behind them. After university, I became a petrophysicist (looked at rocks properties in boreholes) and moved to the UK with two suitcases and only a few coins. I worked across four countries and three continents before switching gears to geotechnical engineering, then to research on cliff collapses using satellite data. I even dabbled in forestry tech (yes, trees!). Eventually, I returned to Australia. Now, I lead research and development projects at Rio Tinto, exploring Earth from space and underground.

As a Principal Delivery Lead in the Copper R&D team, I guide projects that explore the Earth using satellites, drones, and advanced science technologies. My work helps teams understand what's underground - like hidden spaces or useful minerals - and how to map mines more effectively. I collaborate with other scientists and external labs to test emerging technologies, and I contribute to a geology forum that brings Earth Science to life. I also support innovation by connecting technical ideas with practical delivery, helping teams turn smart thinking into real-world solutions. My role spans mining, exploration, and environmental understanding, with a focus on making complex science useful and accessible.
