2024 International Day of the Girl

We invite you to join UNIQ You in celebrating International Day of the Girl Event, please see our table bookings flyer here: idotg.booking.flyer

We invite you to join UNIQ You in celebrating International Day of the Girl and help regional schools access our service, ensuring geographical location is no barrier to girls’ future career opportunities. Join us for an inspirational morning in the Victoria Park Marquee, on Friday 11th October 7:30am – 9:00am.

About the Event

International Day of the Girl acknowledges the importance and potential of adolescent girls. This lesser known day of observance acknowledges the importance of the world’s 600 million adolescent girls and the myriad of challenges they face to reach their full potential.

Girls continue to face unprecedented challenges to fulfil their full potential and this includes equal access to an education. In Australia, geographical location is just one barrier impacting the education and career pathways of our rural and remote girls.

Through the delivery of our online service, UNIQ You has created a safe place for girls to explore, learn and connect with amazing role models offering real-time career advice to ultimately expand their horizons and inspire them to begin the journey towards the career of their dreams.

While enjoying a delicious breakfast in Victoria Park’s Marquee, hear from speakers passionate about significantly increasing the access and opportunity for girls across QLD to inspirational role models and the career pathways available to them.

Proceeds from ticket sales will go directly to our Scholarship Fund, providing subsidised access to UNIQ You in 2025 for secondary schools in regional / remote areas of Australia.

Hear from Keynote Speaker Adjunct Professor Sarah Pearson

In addition to hearing from UNIQ You’s CEO Val Ridley we are delighted to share that Adjunct professor Sarah Pearson will be joining us as our keynote speaker.

Sarah enjoys an eclectic portfolio of Board Director roles (RACQ, RFDS QLD, ANU Council, FIRB), Venture Capital (MSV), STEM and advisory roles. She has global executive leadership experience spanning FTSE 100 multinationals, international C-suite roles in the public and private sector, scientific research, startups and Venture Capital.

Sarah is a scientist and innovator and was privileged to represent Australia as DFAT’s Chief Scientist & Chief Innovation Officer. She holds a PhD in Particle Physics from Oxford, is the author on eight international patents and is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering.

She is extremely driven by the opportunity for impact, for making the world a better place for everyone, whilst helping Australia benefit from applying exciting breakthroughs in science.
