The role of a Police Officer entails providing operational policing services to the community by protecting life and property, preserving peace and safety, preventing crime and upholding law in a manner which has regard for the public good and rights of individuals.

General duties of a Police Officer are to respond immediately to calls of service for the public and without hesitation, put their bodies on the frontline for protection of the community.

A day in the life of a general duties Police Officer consist of responding to jobs such as traffic crashes, domestic violence incidents, arrest and search warrants, welfare checks and assisting the Ambulance Service in medical procedures.
