TechnologyOne joins IWD push to #breakthebias through support of UNIQ You

Queensland-based not-for-profit UNIQ You is excited to mark International Women’s Day by announcing TechnologyOne as its newest partner in the technology and information services sector.

Queensland-based not-for-profit UNIQ You is excited to mark International Women’s Day by announcing TechnologyOne as its newest partner in the technology and information services sector. Australia’s largest ERP software as a service (SaaS) company joins 15 other partners across 10 industries to demonstrate a strong showing of support across one of Australia’s most cutting-edge spaces.

Partnerships with tech companies support UNIQ You to connect Years 9-12 girls with inspiring women who are in the business of digital innovation, and who are already harnessing the power of emerging technologies to deliver social and economic impact. However, with women making up less than a third* of those employed in the technology industry, companies are missing out on transformation and growth opportunities.

Maree Gallagher, EVP of TechnologyOne’s People and Culture team, sees the far-reaching value of diversity and inclusion:

‘We are incredibly excited to join with UNIQ YOU in helping young women explore career opportunities in technology,’ Ms Gallagher said.

‘We know that a diverse workforce means a more sustainable, higher achieving and productive workplace – It is key to our success not just as a company but as an industry.’

To further their goal of equitable workforce participation, TechnologyOne has also set a benchmark for at least 70 percent of all roles to have at least one female candidate shortlisted during their recruitment process.

‘At TechnologyOne we create software for communities, so we believe our workforce should also be reflective of the communities we work with.

‘If we are truly to become a leading technology nation, we need to bring the whole of our population with us, by making sure we are giving every person the opportunity to reach their career potential.’

Committed to breaking down the gender stereotypes that inhibit girls’ pursuit of careers in the tech industry, UNIQ You CEO Tanya Meessmann is excited about what partnering with one of Australia’s first start-ups means for the next generation of talent:

‘Our priority is enabling early interest in industries where women are under-represented, and International Women’s Day presents a perfect opportunity to highlight gender equality partnerships that do just that. We’re on a mission to break the bias, and it is particularly exciting to drive action in the tech space to ensure women are on the forefront of transformation for sustainable development.’

With the support of partner companies such as TechnologyOne, UNIQ You can facilitate educational, inspirational and engaging career advisory conversations between high school girls and women in industry. Through this, UNIQ You is able to promote a sustainable future by focusing on the drivers of gender equality to increase the visibility of female role models and promote girls and women’s capabilities.
