Women are engineering their futures at TMR

.

Celebrating its tenth year, Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) was proud to support International Women in Engineering Day on 23 June which promoted the amazing work that women engineers are doing. Did you know that women only make up 13 per cent of engineers in Australia?

At TMR, we are working to address this imbalance. Our Women in Engineering initiative supports women to pursue STEM fields by attending career days, networking events, and offering financial bursaries to women who attend Queensland universities. We also sponsor STEM initiatives via the Engineering Link Group events: The Engineering Link Project workshops and the Spaghetti Bridge Competition.

TMR relies heavily on a wide variety of employees with STEM skills to deliver our many programs of works and help the people of Queensland. As an engineer for TMR, you could be responsible for the development of planning and designing transport infrastructure projects through using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and working on projects all across Queensland.

As a department, we are embracing the opportunity to increase participation of women in STEM, as we continue to work towards our gender equity and diversity goals.
