- Regional Background
I was never overly interested in school, and struggled to stay motivated, always leaving assignments until the last minute and just scraping through exams.
Hearing all my friends talk about going to uni, or the passion they had for their future career was daunting when I had no idea what I wanted to do, and I knew that uni wasn’t a path I was interested in.
I received an admin traineeship for a civil construction company, and eventually was promoted to a training admin role within the same company. I got to visit a few project sites and from there my interest & love for construction, projects, site life & everything else that comes with it grew.
I now work as a safety advisor, having worked on some amazing jobs from small road construction projects to large gas plants and highway construction jobs. I met my fiancé at work and have made some amazing lifelong friends.
I hope I can inspire some young females who are unsure of their future and may be thinking of a career in construction or a safety role to give it a go. It is an interesting & diverse industry, and a rewarding one at that!
